IN THE PRESS
The latest press surrounding the film JUST SING, coming soon to select theaters.
Abramorama has acquired North American theatrical rights to “Just Sing,” a coming-of-age a cappella documentary set in a real-life “Pitch Perfect”-esque competition. It follows a make-or-break season with the SoCal VoCals, one of the most celebrated college a cappella teams in America, as they chase a record-setting sixth ICCA title.
Just Sing from directors Abraham Troen and Angelique Molina observes the teammates of the SoCal VoCals as they set their eyes on first place in the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCAC). The singers insist that the SoCal VoCals aren’t a glee club and that there’s far more to the art of A Cappella than the movie Pitch Perfect suggests.
Directed by Angelique Molina and Abraham Troen, the film had its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival.
This documentary, which is, at its heart, about something fairly simple that thousands of students take part in every year, feels both triumphant and normal – as can so many things in a life. Whether the SoCal VoCals win or not becomes almost secondary, though of course there’s plenty of tension.
"Just Sing," a documentary about collegiate a cappella, hits the right notes—even for this Pitch Perfect hater. (Tribeca Film Festival Review)
Just Sing is something special, not because of what this group of people is trying to achieve, but because this particular group of people found each other and chose to pursue something bigger than themselves.
